Webinars 101

This is the final session within the 2020 webinar series aimed to support educators working with students with significant intellectual disabilities for the 2020 - 2021 school year. In this recording, Project SUCCESS team members discuss behavior as communication and connecting behavior with academics in order to improve student outcomes.

 

Participants will be able to access a master list of resources, which are age appropriate and aligned to the Content Connectors in addition to identify best practice when selecting curriculum aligned to alternate achievement standards.

 

Facilitators will discuss collecting and analyzing data to assist teachers of students with significant intellectual disabilities. The session provides practical strategies for using data to inform instruction and interventions for students, particularly during this period when many students are learning online.

 

The session includes information about the Indiana alternate standards, known as Content Connectors. This session presents best practices for aligning instruction to the Content Connectors for students with significant intellectual disabilities.

 

The session provides information around identifying best practices for lesson plan development using UDL principals and unpacking critical content connectors. Participants will be able to create a lesson plan that includes access skills aligned to content connectors as well as be able to identify and locate resources for lesson plan development.

 

This webinar features resources from the PATINS Project, Project SUCCESS, and the Indiana Department of Education to support learners with complex communication needs. Offering practical tools and resources to support learners, as well as best practices when interacting with students using AAC, Core Vocabulary, and supporting students with complex communication needs during daily academic instruction.

This is the second session within the 2020 webinar series aimed to support educators working with students with significant intellectual disabilities. In this recording, Project SUCCESS team members discuss best practices for inclusive instruction when working with students with significant intellectual disabilities.

 

This is the third session within the 2020 webinar series aimed to support educators working with students with significant intellectual disabilities. In this recording, Project SUCCESS team members discuss collaborative practice and strategies in order to improve student outcomes.

 

This session includes strategies for developing and implementing a virtual learning plan for students with significant intellectual disabilities.

 

Project SUCCESS walks educators through the process of writing an IEP Goal aligned to a grade level Content Connector. This webinar discusses best practices for the IEP process, as well as the steps for writing measurable IEP goals. Easy to implement tools and resources are shared throughout the webinar, as well as examples. This webinar was prepared and delivered during the 2020 school year.

 

This is the first session within the 2020 webinar series aimed to support educators working with students with significant intellectual disabilities. In this recording, Project SUCCESS team members and guest panelists discuss what is and is not inclusion as well as other elements of inclusive mindset from the perspectives of teachers, parents, and other supportive roles when working with students with significant intellectual disabilities.

 

Participants attending this webinar will identify best practices for collect data for students with significant intellectual disabilities and will review tools and resources to collect student data and determine instructional next steps in both in-person and virtual instruction.

 

This Project SUCCESS webinar shares techniques and strategies providing access to general education curriculum for students with significant disabilities. Highlighting specific reading and writing expression strategies to implement into the classroom including tips on general literacy, tactile books, guided group practice, and ideas to make writing meaningful.

 

Participants will be able to identify best practice to unpack the Critical Content Connectors by aligning embedded skills, functional application, and available curriculum.

Paraprofessional Webinars

The paraprofessional webinars listed below are a series of recordings specifically aimed to help paraprofessionals in their role supporting teachers and students in the classroom. To access all content for the series, please visit the 2020 Paraprofessional Webinar Series page.

This Project SUCCESS webinar is designed to provide paraprofessionals with a deeper understanding of culture, cultural identity, and explicit vs. implicit bias. Self-reflection around these topics, as well as knowledge of how these influence student behavior and student-teacher/para interventions, provides a foundation for culturally responsive practices in the classroom.

 

This second session is designed to support effective communication between paraprofessionals and teachers. Topics include different modes of communication, exploration of communication styles, and practical tools to help facilitate communication.

 

The third webinar in the series is designed to present the building blocks for inclusive mindset with regard to students with significant disabilities: High Expectations, Least Dangerous Assumption, and Presumed Competence.

 

The first of the spring paraprofessional webinar series, Building Independence, covers content designed to introduce paraprofessionals to Building Student Independence strategies to apply in the classroom.

 

The second webinar of the spring paraprofessional series. This session is designed to introduce paraprofessionals to confidentiality strategies to be applied within the classroom.

 

The third session of the spring paraprofessional webinar series, Supporting Student Communication, provides discussion around introducing paraprofessionals to strategies supporting student communication.

 

The final edition to the spring paraprofessional webinar series. In this recording viewers will learn the importance of data collection in addition to skill to capture and analyze data supporting instruction.
